Introducción: El Asma Bronquial ha sido considerada una afección frecuente. Es la más común de las afecciones crónicas entre adultos y niños en el mundo desarrollado. Objetivo: Evaluar el efecto de una intervención educativa sobre el nivel de conocimientos acerca del asma bronquial. Método: Se realizó un estudio pre – experimental de intervención educativa de tipo antes y después en el área de salud Julio Castillo del municipio Chambas durante el período comprendido del 1ro de Enero del 2017 hasta diciembre del 2017 con el objetivo de modificar el nivel de conocimiento de los pacientes asmáticos. El universo de estudio lo conformaron 96 pacientes asmáticos y la muestra representativa según criterio de inclusión quedó constituida por 60 pacientes, a los que se les aplicó un cuestionario de preguntas para medir el nivel de conocimiento que poseían antes y después de la intervención siendo la etapa diagnóstica, seguidamente se les aplicó un programa de intervención educativa como etapa de intervención y a los tres meses se les evaluó el conocimiento adquirido siendo la etapa de evaluación,  Resultados: Después de la intervención el mayor porciento  de pacientes, adquirieron un mayor conocimiento sobre el tratamiento médico, el ejercicio  físico,  medidas profilácticas, consecuencias del hábito toxico   así como síntomas del asma bronquial, Conclusión: La intervención educativa elevó el nivel de conocimiento sobre asma bronquial en la muestra estudiada.
